FAQ
Why do you want to serve on Frisco City Council?
Frisco has thrived from strong leadership in the past. In my 3 years of Council, I have gained much insight from working with 2 Mayors and 9 City Council members. I want to continue to be part of the next generation of City Council and lead the efforts to complete Frisco into a unique City and exciting place for residents to “live, work, play, and grow.”
I have always had a commitment to serve and it would be an honor to serve the community in which we live, work, and play. Our family is committed to the City and I want to be a leader in ensuring that Frisco continues to develop as planned. We have an opportunity to make Frisco truly unique and with the right leadership, Frisco can develop into a truly unique and sustainable City.
I take my role as your Council Member very seriously. I always research each issue from all sides and solicit feedback from our citizens. I do not cast a vote until I am confident it is the right choice for Frisco. I serve on many Council Boards such as the Budget and Audit Committee, the Frisco Square Municipal Management District, the Mayor’s Youth Council, among others. As Mayor Pro Tem, I have always made myself available whenever the Mayor needs me whether it is representing the City of Frisco or speaking at a career day. I feel the opportunity to serve the community in this manner is a privilege and I am thankful for the opportunity.
Why are you the best choice for Frisco City Council?
I am a proven leader, a professional, and dedicated to serving Frisco. There are many committees, organizations, and people that go into effective City leadership. Since City Council is an elected position, it is the most accountable and visible position. I feel it is important that a Council Member is accountable to, listens to, is available to the citizens they represent. I also feel that it is important that Council Members represent the City in a professional manner as City Council is often viewed as a reflection of the City.
I will also bring a wide range of perspective to City Council. My professional life introduces me to a wide range of people in every demographic, from those that currently live here in various parts of town to those considering moving here. Hearing their opinion on a daily basis helps me keep abreast of what Frisco is doing well and things other cities are doing to catch people’s attention. My role in the business community also keeps me aware of the challenges and needs our local businesses need to be successful. Finally, through my involvement with Frisco-Online.com as well as other charitable and social networking events, I have the fortunate opportunity of meeting many citizens of Frisco, across all demographics and geographic locations.
When a few people are making the decisions for the City as a whole, I feel it is crucial that all interested parties have their opinions and concerns heard. By constantly having our finger on the pulse of Frisco, I will be able to bring a wide range of perspective to the City Council for consideration in our decision making.
The City Council has seen an unprecedented amount of turnover in the last 3 years. I have benefited from serving with 2 Mayors and 9 City Council members. I believe my experience and knowledge gained from these experiences make me the most qualified candidate.
How has your background prepared you for Frisco City Council?
Having worked in professional services my entire career, I am well trained in the role of a fiduciary. Just as I do in my professional career, I will be committed to focusing on serving the needs of those I work for, the citizens of Frisco, and putting their interests above my own.
My background as a CPA included business auditing and consulting work. This experience was invaluable in seeing the importance of proper controls and checks and balances in organization types. It also stressed the important of independence, both in appearance and in fact, when involved in decision making.
Above all of the forementioned, I personally do not know any experience that would train someone for a role as large as City Council than running a business. As a business owner, I have to not only be able to see the big picture but also focus on the details as well. I feel success in business is largely based on the ability to see the big picture of where you want to be, then develop and execute a plan to realize that vision.
My entire career has been based around professional services predicated on ethics, integrity, and communication. My approach on City Council will be much the same way. Frisco has developed a Comprehensive Plan that is a shared vision of what Frisco should look like when complete. I feel this vision must be kept in mind during all decisions.
How would you describe your decision-making process?
A valuable lesson that my professional career has thought me is the importance of listening. I feel it is crucially important to come into any decision free from bias and then research and evaluate the topic from all perspectives. All decisions should be made with the end result in mind. Although short-term thinking is important for our immediate needs, I feel strongly that the long-term effects should take priority. I also feel it is important to reserve judgement on a topic until I feel I have done all the research necessary to make me comfortable that my decision is the absolute best for the citizens of Frisco and what they want.
